These slabs are not only used in reinforced concrete structures but also in masonry and steel constructions, regardless of whether it is a prefabricated or traditional construction system. The primary use of hollow core slabs is in the floor construction, but they are also used as facade panels, beam elements, or bridge decks.

 
 
 

Low weight

The hollow slab is a prefabricated prestressed element with a reduced cross-sectional profile, with prestressing cables as the only reinforcement. The weight of the PPB is 28-46% lighter than the weight of a solid concrete section of the same height.

Large spans

By using prestressing, larger spans of slabs are achievable compared to traditional construction methods. PPB can span up to 14 meters without additional supports, which corresponds to a beam spacing of 15 meters. This construction system requires fewer load-bearing elements placed at wider intervals, allowing for faster and more cost-effective construction.

Appearance

Hollow core slabs, after production and installation, do not require any additional finishing or aesthetic corrections. Their production takes place on specially designed tracks, resulting in an exceptionally smooth bottom surface. Automated production ensures precise manufacturing of elements with consistent dimensions, allowing for their orderly stacking in the structure.

Fast and high-quality production

They are characterized by high production quality and material savings. The production process is fully automated. The concrete and prestressing cables are of high quality, with the necessary material certifications. The advantage of hollow core slabs over traditional floor construction lies in the high production rate of elements in a short time, with minimal labor. Additionally, their installation is simple and fast, allowing for a large area to be paved in a short period.

Software Support

Hollow core slabs are designed and dimensioned in the licensed software FloorCAD, according to EC2 and BS 8110 standards. This program tracks the entire process, from design to production, and transport for installation.
